The leaves have turned and are beginning to fall; we wake to darker mornings and a familiar chill in the air. The days of exposed skin with the sun-kissed look are sadly over, along with it the never-ending hours of sunlight we bask and thrive in. In their place we will soon experience that prairie winter most of us know all too well. However, for those of us that were born and bred here, along with those who have simply come to love this place, it’s not all bad this time of year.
I, for one, look at the Fall season as more of an opportunity than an impediment, as it gives us the chance to use layers, length, fill and texture to our aesthetic advantage. Clothing manufacturers from around the world embrace this time of year, thanks to endless possibilities based on necessity. There are few companies in the segment, I feel, take this mentality to heart better than the people at Penfield, who understand our unique position, perhaps a little better than most.
So it comes then, as no surprise, that for the Fall of 2013 they have once again exceeded expectation in all areas of creation. From design and look, to manufacturing and feel. Due to the use of multiple fabrics for a variety of reasons, coupled with the cut, styling, and finish that we have come to know and love from Penfield, this collection is shaping up to be one of their best offerings to date.
Style before function is a mantra that I have embraced for quite a while now, and unfortunately that has come back to yield less than desirable results on multiple occasions this time of year. Fortunately for myself and others like me there is a new crop of Penfield products able to cater to both sides of that coin, and leave us stylishly ready to face the coming seasons.
