20 years ago Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls defeated the Phoenix Suns in the 1993 NBA Finals. This completed the first of what would be two bulls three-peats. It’s easy to say that Michael Jordan got them there with an other-wordly performance averaging 41 points-per-game across the series. While the Bulls were considered to be the best team in the league at the time, there were some doubts surrounding the possibility of a third championship. Taking into considering the short time span and the strength of their Finals opponent the Phoenix Suns it posed a difficult challenge (Charles Barkley on their side). The Championship win would eventually become a bittersweet one due to the sudden death of his father giving cause for his first retirement. Amidst these outside pressures, on the feet of Michael Jordan were the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” – a celebrated Air Jordan original that hits stores for the third time in history tomorrow at Coda.
This is a classic Jordan if I’ve ever seen one (and I’ve seen a few). Great design, amazing colorway and some history to boot, all the makings of a great Jordan. So get to Coda if you have even the slightest interest in these, Jordan’s don’t seem to last long these days. And don’t forget to WEAR not STARE!!!
