It’s no secret that Comune has, over the last few seasons, become one of my personal favorites in the realm of lifestyle fashion. Not that I would ever look to push anything based on my personal tastes, because then there would simply be too many people in ill-fitting shirts and year-round beanies.
I will, however, push Comune and their new summer collection for a few reasons, completely unrelated to what my idea of what may be. For starters, the craftsmanship of Comune’s pieces is second to none, with a touch and detail normally reserved for garments at a much higher pricepoint. Beyond that, the construction, comfort, and durability of their line truly reflect what the brand is about. They are a ‘rough around the edges’ manufacturer who serves to echo an honest and gritty way of life.
With creative inspiration stemming from things like skate, surf, music, and vintage motorcycles, clothing in any Comune collection can instantly bring to mind notions we all have of the aforementioned way of life. Not that this is a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination, but rather that simple, understated, and timeless can be great.
Comune’s purpose with the release of their summer 2013 lookbook was to drive this point home by once again showcasing things with visuals that play on a similar note. The brief and eerie vignette is simply more of what has been working for the brand, which now includes many seasonally appropriate pieces.
So enjoy the video included here and use it to form your own opinions of what Comune and their summer 2013 line really are. If you do happen to pick some pieces up just make sure you stretch it out before you wear it, and match your beanie accordingly.
