Each and every season that Nudie Jeans releases a collection, the world looks to the manufacturer for product that is unique, well-made and boundary pushing in terms of cut, style, and construction. Keeping up with a reputation like this, not to mention a hungry following is not the easiest thing to do, especially when you are being looked at as one of the fashion industry’s most forward-thinking creators.
Luckily for the brand and it’s fans alike, the pool from which they are able to draw inspiration is deep and wide. This gives them an eclectic mix of material from which to springboard forward and continue the evolution of not just their expertly crafted denim, but the full line of apparel that now accompanies it.
Experimenting with cut and color can lead your train of thought down several different tracks, and that is far from a bad thing. I for one am a true believer that having a wide array of creative influences can do nothing but good, especially when what you are dealing with is trying to appeal to a massive and discerning audience.
With a renewed affinity for the things that were touched on earlier (cut, style, construction and more importantly long-lasting value), fans of the lifestyle clothing industry are more critical than ever in their decision making process. With this in mind it is becoming more important than ever for companies to think about where they are coming from if they wish to remain relevant for more than just a few seasons.
Nudie has done this by taking things back to when it wasn’t a style choice to purchase well-made goods that would serve the wearer in the long run. It wasn’t always a luxury to look for things that served style and function equally, it was a necessity that was born from the fact that clothing needed to serve multiple purposes and stand up to a long, hard life, looking good the entire time.
They might not build them like they used to, but if Nudie Jeans has anything to say about it, that is going to change. With their feet firmly planted in a stance believing that quality is far more important than a quick buck, they plan on holding on to their growing audience by continuing to produce things that not only bring them pride, but their customers can be proud to wear. With their collection for the Spring of 2013, it appears they have done just that.
