Being prairie kids, we were born tough. We love our four seasons and the Winter months bring fond memories of ice skating, snowboard travels and tobogganing. We are lucky to experience the glistening of the ground after a snowfall or the sparkle of the frost on the naked tree branches. But let’s face it - our winters can be cold as f*$& and the winters are long if we keep inside all season. That’s why we were ecstatic to become an authorized Canada Goose dealer. Having the right jacket can make all the difference to you enjoying the winter season and we wholeheartedly believe that Canada Goose makes the best jacket you can buy.
We love the history of the brand and the sustainable and ethical practices. Founded in a small warehouse in Toronto almost sixty years ago, Canada Goose has grown into one of the world's leading makers of luxury apparel. In the 1950's Sam Tick immigrated to Canada bringing a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In 1957, he founded Metro Sportswear Ltd. in Toronto, which specializes in woolen vests, raincoats and snowmobile suits. 20 years later David Reiss, Sam Tick’s son-in-law, joined the company and launched a new era for Metro Sportswear with the invention of a volume-based down filling machine. (Nothing is cooler than inventing a machine to improve your business, right!?) David also established the label Snow Goose, which later became Canada Goose. Since the 1980's Canada Goose has been making jackets for the people who need them the most, for the people working and living in the coldest corners of the world. We think this is the number one reason you should choose a Canada Goose jacket over any other brand. Canada Goose is a technical piece of outerwear, using the best materials for each function of the jacket.
We sometimes get asked about the ethical choices of using goose down and fur, which is a question we encourage you to ask. Canada Goose uses only Canadian raised goose down that is a by-product of the poultry industry and coyote fur from the Canadian coyote bounty. Due to the limited resources of these products Canada Goose only makes as many jackets as the amount of these resources allow. That's why a Canada Goose is a sought after product, and not easy to find.
CG also pledges to stay "Made in Canada" with factories in Winnipeg and Toronto. It takes 450 hours to make a single Canada Goose jacket, passing through 13 production stages and just as many hands, all guided by their commitment to uncompromising craftsmanship. Just last year, Canada Goose officially opened its Global Headquarters in Toronto, significantly increasing manufacturing capacity. The company is recognized by the federal government for employing 6% of the cut & sew labour industry in Canada. At Coda and Cade we think this is the ultimate! We know you've heard the term "support local" and we believe this is important on every single level of our industry. Everyday we are striving to sell more "Made in Canada" product and love that Canada Goose is just as proud to be Canadian as we are!
Canada Goose is also committed to the Canadian environment, it's people and it's animals. With two-thirds of the world’s polar bears living in Canada, Canada Goose joined forces in 2007 with Polar Bears International (PBI) and launched the PBI Collection. Funds from every sale go to PBI to support the conservation of polar bear habitats. In 2009, two inaugural Canada Goose Resource Centres are established in the Canadian Arctic. The centres provide free fabrics, buttons, zippers and other materials for Inuit sewers who hand-make jackets and clothing for their families and community.
We would be lost without Canada Goose in our closets and honestly, we are excited it's going to snow tomorrow because that means we are brushing the dust off our furs! Now that it's getting cold, we won't only look warm - we will actually be warm in our favorite Canada Goose jacket! Not to mention the cozy warm mittens we pull out when shoveling the parking lot and the cashmere infinity scarves to keep our necks and noses warm!
We believe that not every jacket is perfect for every customers needs so we want to help you out to make sure you are purchasing the perfect jacket for you. To purchase, please call the store at 1 (306) 789-2233.
